About IgnisUO
IgnisUO (formerly JIMUO) launched in August 2024 to fulfill a nostalgic itch for classic SphereUO-style gameplay.

Our scripts and player community trace their roots back through historic Sphere servers, including MPZ UO, Burstfire UO, The UO Project, and Imperial UO. We bring together players who love classic Ultima Online and wish to return to a familiar, fast-paced Britannia.

Server Highlights
* PvP & PvE Systems: A deep combat experience based around classic magery cast times and fizzle mechanics, alongside actively developed PvE content.
* Instant Action: New characters start with 10 skills at 90%, allowing you to jump straight into combat and exploration without spending weeks macroing.
* Community Driven: Voluntary donations help keep the server online, offering purely cosmetic rewards and account perks. Learn more on the Donate page.

Historically, we never had a proper formula for balancing weapons. Damage values were largely adjusted through trial and error, which left room for guesswork and made it difficult to maintain a consistent balance between different weapons, materials, and weapon types.

Weapon Rebalance Logic
1. Fair Average Damage
DAMAGE = 4 + (Materials x 0.5) + (Weight x 0.75)

We used this formula to tie a weapon's baseline power directly to its resource cost and speed, preserving overall server DPS and the classic game feel.

2. Weight and Swing Speed
Weight !! Swing Speed
0 || ultra fast
1 || extremely fast
2 || very fast
3 || fast
4 || quite fast
5 || normal speed
6 || below normal speed
7 || a bit slow
9 || very slow
10 || extremely slow
11 || ultra slow
12+ || stupidly slow

3. Playstyle Identities
Instead of leaving weapons as simple reskins, we applied a percentage-based Spread (variance) around that average to give each weapon a distinct playstyle.

The spread formula calculates the minimum and maximum damage around the Average Damage (derived from the base formula) using a specific percentage modifier for each weapon class or style:

* Min. Damage: (Average x (1 - Spread))
* Max. Damage: (Average x (1 + Spread))

Example (Long Sword: 15 Ingots, 9 Weight and Spread 45%):
* Base Average: 4 + (15 x 0.5) + (9 x 0.75) = 18.25
* Min Damage: (18.25 x (1 - 0.45)) = 10
* Max Damage: (18.25 x (1 + 0.45)) = 26
* Final Damage = 10, 26

4. Spread Percentage
Based on the old server values, we found some consistency on how weapons played:

* Maces: 30% (0.30) -> Consistent, heavy hits.
* Swords: 45% (0.45) -> Balanced variance.
* Axes/Polearms: 60% (0.60) -> High volatility.

However, since there is a high number of weapons, we adjusted a few to make sure all players have ample options on how they will play and which weapon they will pick.

4.1. Why Spread?
When two weapons share the same Average Damage (DPS), they deal the exact same total amount of damage over a long fight. Manipulating variance (spread) simply redistributes how that damage is delivered per hit, creating strategic trade-offs rather than power imbalances.

5. Material Multipliers
Material multipliers are applied to the weapon's average damage before the Spread Variance. This means the material of the weapon directly affects its overall damage potential before the final damage range is determined.
Assuming a superb quality weapon:
* All Weapons: 5% Critical Hit Chance
A Higher STR means you can do better damage and have more HP, making you harder to kill.
A Higher DEX means you can hit faster, heal with bandages faster and have a higher chance to dodge physical attacks. Tip: You should never have less than 90dex if your character uses Weapons.
A Standard Warrior has 110 STR / 90 DEX / 75 INT. Tip: Warriors have Magery Skill too. Unless you’re going a Pure Tank.

A Standard Pure Mage has 110 STR / 45 DEX / 120 INT. Tip: Pure Mage don’t use Combat Skills, the only use skills like Bard, Necro and Mage.

A Standard Trader has 120 STR / 35 DEX / 120 INT. Tip: A Trader need High INT to craft better items.

You can always customize your character the way you want!

Skillrolls is a simple feature that allows you to check your percentage of gaining skillpoints while training and what action gives the highest chance for rolling. To enable skillrolls simply type .skillrolls and while performing actions, you will now see a message for example: [Hiding(21.2%): need 4.7% or lower, got 35.1%]. So what does everything mean? It’s simple, the first bit will tell you what skill you are rolling in, which is hiding in this case. The first number, (21.2%), will tell you how close you are to gaining skill and once it reaches 100%, you will gain skill. The second and the third numbers are connected to something else, On this shard you don’t just gain by having enough experience, see it like an experience bar. You also gain skill at random times. Imagine it like rolling a dice with 1000 sides, the first number (4.7%) is what you need to roll below in order to gain skill, and the second number is what you just rolled (35.1%). Obviously, the higher the second number (4.7%) is, the faster and higher chances you have of gaining skill. When you gain a skill by rolling lower then needed, your experience bar (first numbers) are reset to 0%.

The skillrolls are different for all actions, animals, spells and crafts, take magery for example. Casting a spell such as Night Sight might give you a chance of gaining skill at 2.3%, which is very low, while the spell Reveal might give you a chance of gaining skill at 14.2%, which is very high.

Player Vendors
In JIMUO there are two types of vendors, server controlled and player controlled. The server controller can be found everywhere in the map. All towns have several types of server vendors but here we will explain the ones available for your control, player vendors. Player vendors can be found only in Moonglow. Upon renting a vendor, you will be able to sell your own items and equipment for your desired prices without having to stay logged in. A player vendor can hold up to 50 items at a time and the prices can be anything you want them to be.

To rent a vendor, you need to find a green sign, which means that the vendor doesn’t belong to any other player yet. Once you’ve found a vendor in a location available and suitable for your desire it’s time to rent it. To do this you’re required to have the money for the price of the vendor in your backpack and it will not work if the money is in your bank account. The price of rental is 12500 gold. Renting the shop is done by double clicking the green sign and clicking Rent As Shop.

After renting the vendor the NPC will appear, this is the NPC that will hold, sell and distribute your items. To put items up for sale your recommended to first close your vendor, simply by saying ‘Close’. Now write ‘Stock’ to open the vendor stock, simply drag and drop the items you wish to sell in this area. To select a price, write ‘Price 8500’ to price an item at 8500 coins or whatever your desired price is.

Having a vendor doesn’t come for free. When you first rent the vendor it will only have 4 days of rent paid, so unless you pay the rent for more days you will lose the vendor and all the items for sale after the 4 days pass. Rent is paid by double clicking on the vendor sign and pay, again, money must be placed in your backpack and not in your bank account.
Vendor Menu

When double clicking the vendor sign you are presented with a menu where you can pay the shop rent, lock items, free the room, and change properties like shop name, vendor title, and sign type as well as access your bank account. To pay the rent for one day you have to select the first option “Extend rent time by 24 hours” and then click ‘Continue’. You need to have the money inside your backpack and you can pay the vendor rent to a maximum of 90 days. Clicking in the second option “Access commercial menu” will bring a new menu on your screen. In this menu you can change the shop name, the sign type, the vendors title or access your bank account by clicking in the blue icon before each option. And to change the vendor name you only need to drag his health bar and edit it. The third option “Lock/Unlock Item” allows you to lock up to 3 items near your vendor like a table, a chair, a book or anything else you want to display outside your vendor. The fourth menu is all the commands you need to use in order to maintain your vendor. And the fifth and last option “Free the room” means you will lose your player vendor and free the room for someone else. Any item still in your player vendor stock will be moved to your bank account.
Vendor Commands

Vendor commands are used to open and close the shop, to add items to stock, to set item prices and to get the cash earned from item sales. To use a command you just need to be near your player vendor and say the respective word.

*Open – Opens the vendor to allow trading.
*Close – Closes the vendor to forbid trading.
*Stock – Opens the vendor stock to add and remove items for sale.
*Price X – Allows you to price any items inside your stock at any desired price.
*Status – Tells you how many items and how much gold your vendor currently holds.
*Cash – Withdraws all the earned coins currently in your vendor.

The interface automatically scales based on the number of players in your party and provides real-time information at a glance.

Features
* Tracking: Displays the current health, stamina, mana, and location of everyone in the group.
* Damage Meter: Tracks total physical damage dealt by each member during combat.
Party Leader Controls
# Leadership Transfer: If you need to step down or log off, you can instantly pass the party leader status to another online member without having to remake the group.
# Open Invites: The party leader can toggle the “Everyone can invite” setting. When enabled, this allows any current party member to send out group invitations, rather than restricting the ability to the leader.
# Disband: disbands the entire party.
# Remove the specific player from the group.

Other Controls (Members & Leader)
# Refresh: Updates the gump to check for new members, updated stats, or the latest damage numbers.
# Invites players to the group.
# Leaves the group.

Additional Mechanics
* Party Size Limit: Groups are limited to a maximum of 10 members.
* Friendly Fire: Killing a party member (accidental or intentional) will not add a kill to your murder count.
* Damage Tracking Scope: The damage meter exclusively records physical damage dealt to monsters via Melee and Archery.
* Shared Progression: Progress for specific achievements and boss kills (such as Medusa, Isliah, and Jerushal in Shame) is shared among all nearby party members.

The Gloomwood System is a custom economy and cooperative progression feature. It integrates resource gathering, a dual-currency shop, and a server-wide community event centered around a unique NPC, The Gloomwood Druid.

Map Location
The Gloomwood Forest is located nearby Trinsic, hidden inside the mountains.

Core Mechanics
Spore Exchange (Currency Conversion)
Players can obtain Gloomspores by trading various reagents, monster parts, and special materials at the Gloomwood Merchant.

*Conversion Process: Through the merchant’s interface, players can target specific items directly within their backpacks.

*Variable Exchange Rates: The system evaluates the targeted item and instantly converts it into Gloomspores. Different materials hold different conversion values based on their rarity or difficulty to obtain.

Dual-Currency Merchant Shop
The Gloomwood Merchant offers a dynamic storefront containing exclusive items categorized into decorations, dyes, utility items, and more.

*Dual-Currency Requirement: Unlike standard vendors, purchasing items from the Gloomwood Merchant requires a combination of two distinct currencies: Gloomspores and Reward Tickets. Players must gather sufficient amounts of both to acquire the shop’s rewards.

The Summoning Ritual (Global Event)
Beyond the individual shop, the Gloomwood system features a community-driven progression mechanic known as the Summoning Ritual.

*Community Contributions: The merchant acts as the hub for the ritual. Players can view the server’s current progress and actively contribute their gathered materials and Gloomspores to the event.

*Boss Summoning: The ritual requires a collective effort, demanding thousands of reagents and spores. Once the global contribution threshold is met by the server’s population, a formidable Boss is summoned, unlocking new combat encounters and high-tier loot opportunities.

Bosses
The Gloomwood Awakening Ritual features two distinct progression paths. The boss that the server will face depends entirely on which contribution bar the community fills up first: the currency (Spores) or the raw materials (Reagents).

The Gloomspore Path
Progress toward awakening Vidua, Matron of Venom is directly fueled by the flow of Gloomspores. Whenever players interact with the Gloomwood Merchant and spend this currency, the system automatically tracks these spores toward this ritual’s milestone. Once the community reaches a total of 20,000 spent Gloomspores, the ritual reaches its climax, and Vidua is summoned.

The Reagent Path
At the same time, the system monitors a second milestone focused on the sacrifice of physical resources. The community’s goal here is to accumulate 6,000 traded reagents. When this specific quota is met, the ritual takes a different form and summons either the Boneflame Wyrm or Vorak, The First Winter to challenge the server.

Boss Rules & Mechanics
*If a boss is already active, the system will try to summon the other one.

*If all arenas are active, the ritual resets.

*Any excess reagents contributed during the summon will carry over and continue filling the bar after the reset.

*All boss arenas CAN BE CONTESTED. These areas are not PvP safe.

*There is a 3-minute cooldown before you can re-enter a boss room.

*Field spells cannot be cast near boss gates.

Gate Locations
The gate to the Scorched Depths (Boneflame Wyrm) is located in Fire Dungeon Level 2.

The gate to the Frozen Barrens (Vorak, The First Winter) is located in Ice Dungeon Level 2.

The gate to The Widow’s Nest (Vidua, Matron of Venom) is located at Gloomwood Forest.

Vendor Keywords
To use magical items, you must identify them using Item Lore (apply Item Lore twice on an item to reveal its priorities).

The reason for this list is so you know what logs we have available and the color of the items it crafts into.
From Top to Bottom are the best logs for weapons/armor. Pine being the worst, White Oak being the best.

Some logs listed here are not found through normal lumberjacking, instead you have to craft them with Bowery.

Pine Logs
Eucalyptus Logs
Rose Logs
Interleaved Logs
Holly Logs
Oak Logs
Ironwood Logs
Mahogany Logs
Composite Logs
Cherry Logs
Imbued Cherry Logs
