Blacksmithing is one of the most profitable skills. It allows you to craft high-quality armor and weapons using a variety of metals, some of which have unique, gameplay-affecting properties.
To turn ore into ingots, you need coal and a forge. Coal can be purchased from Blacksmith NPCs (located in most towns), and forges are usually found inside blacksmith shops, as well as outside the Minoc bank. Forges can also be crafted by players.
Once you have these items nearby, add the coal to the forge. Click the forge and target the ore. Sometimes, the process may fail and yield no ingots!

Alloys
Alloys are combinations of metals and/or other resources. Most alloys require Tin ingots. The ability to create an alloy will appear in the item creation menu alongside the normal shields and other options once you have both the required skill and the necessary materials.
Also note that Mining is a standard requirement for crafting alloys from raw resources.
Some of the harder to find ingots/alloys, when crafted into armour and weapons yield different effects and/or resistances.
